With the Saints Round 1 clash against Geelong at the MCG just eight days away, Senior Coach Ross Lyon has outlined that there are a number of players vying for selection.

Lyon explained selection would be difficult, with a number of Saints players impressing throughout the pre-season competition.

“Cripps has been pretty good, Archer was pretty good again last week and Al Smith has been around the mark. They’re the three obvious ones.”

“We’ve played Crocker, who an exciting youngster. He has a beautiful kick and also has some pace. So certainly they’re all in the mix,” said Lyon.

With the new substitute rule to take effect this season, Lyon outlined that his side has a number of rucking options available.

“We’ve got a couple. McEvoy and Archer were pretty good again last weekend, and Rhys Stanley is back in the fold, so that’s another option as well.”
