THE WESTERN Bulldogs have added three players to an extended squad ahead of Monday's clash with Richmond at Docklands.

After strong performances for VFL affiliate Williamstown, forward Scott Welsh and utilities Andrejs Everitt and Stephen Tiller have been named on a seven-man bench.

However, football manager James Fantasia said there were still a number of things to consider before the final side was confirmed.

"We'll have another run on the weekend," he said on Thursday. "This is still Tuesday for us, if that makes sense, but we had to announce a squad and they're the three guys most likely to come in.

"Everitt was unlucky the week before when he came out, but that was more about match-ups than anything else. He had some good form for Williamstown in their hit-out at the weekend.

"Tiller was also unlucky to miss out last week because it was more about the conditions and match-ups once again.

"They're all ready to go which is a good position to be in."

The Bulldogs' forward line has been functioning well in the side's two wins to start the season, but Fantasia said Welsh, who kicked 43 goals last year, was under serious consideration for a recall.

"Welshy kicked five goals as well so he's in some good form and he's got another game under his belt," he said of the forward, whose pre-season was hampered by a back injury.

"Although we have been kicking goals, he still helps us because he's a natural goalkicker. It's all about supply. If you've got the supply when he's up forward then he adds another dimension to us.

"He's certainly one in the forward mix that the opposition has to think about."

The club continues to take a cautious approach with Robert Murphy who is nearing the end of his rehabilitation from knee surgery, but won't be considered for selection until round four at the earliest.
