Dale Thomas and Harry O’Brien are guests on the round 22 edition of Magpie Radio’s The Squawk, so don’t miss out on what Dale and Harry have to say about the upcoming game and playing finals football in 2007.

Each week throughout season 2007 The Squawk has invited two young Magpies into the Magpie Radio studio to discuss everything from footy, to life and love, and Dale and Harry certainly put on a great show for our loyal band of Squawk listeners.

With September looming, and the Magpies set to compete in another finals campaign, the two are focused on their on-field performances and helping the Magpies continue their strong form after the great win over Sydney on Saturday night.

“It’s a great feeling because we’ve strung a couple of games together,” O’Brien said.

“We’re going to set ourselves to keep the momentum up, play well against Adelaide, and if we get the win, the possibility is we can finish in the top four, so that’s what we’re going for.

“Especially the way Sydney played, they work as a team, and for us to match that and work for each other better than they did was very pleasing.”

Thomas, meanwhile, is happy the side rebounded strongly after a flat patch, and is looking forward to his second finals campaign.

“I suppose we probably struggled for a couple of weeks before that, losing to Richmond and just getting across the line against Melbourne,” explained Thomas.

“But to come up against some good opposition and to beat them in the fashion that we did, is certainly going to give the boys some confidence coming into the important part of the season.”

The question was also posed to the young Magpie star what it was like having the great Nathan Buckley hit him on the chest early in the game, with Thomas proceeding to calmly slot the opening goal for the Magpies.

“It feels good to get the ball regardless, that early in the game, but obviously Bucks’ return was a much hyped event and he went out there and played some good footy.

“He was very structured in the way he went about his performance and definitely contributed to the team’s overall performance.”
