Adelaide forward Chris Knights has a stress fracture in his left foot and will be sidelined for up to six weeks.

This was not the injury he was initially treated for last week.

Knights was using a moon boot as part of his treatment for plantar fasciitis, which was causing pain in his heel.

Head medical officer Andrew Potter said: “Late last week Chris was aware of pain and swelling further down the foot towards the toes. An investigation (MRI scan) on the weekend revealed a stress fracture. Chris will continue to have treatment for both plantar fasciitis and the stress fracture.”

On the positive side, Nathan Bock, Kurt Tippett and Scott Thompson all expect to be available for Friday night’s NAB Challenge game against Collingwood in Alice Springs.

Adelaide’s next opening training session is on Thursday from about 10am.
