ST KILDA captain Nick Riewoldt's summer of controversy has continued amid reports he was involved in a scuffle with two men outside a South Melbourne restaurant.

The club has confirmed via a statement that Riewoldt was verbally harassed on Wednesday by people unknown to him while collecting take away dinner in South Melbourne.

"There has been no police involvement and the club does not feel it necessary to make any further comment," the statement read.

Riewoldt is reported to have been verbally abused by two men who taunted him over the controversial nude photograph of him and a partially-clothed Zac Dawson that was posted on social networking site Facebook last month.

The photograph was posted by a teenage girl who had been involved with Riewoldt's teammate Sam Gilbert.

Riewoldt is believed to have reacted to the taunts and had his shirt ripped in the incident on Wednesday night.

No formal complaint has been made to Victoria Police.
