The display showcases match-day footballs from significant games in the Club’s recent history.
You can see the ball from the Hawks’ 2001 win over Carlton when Ben Dixon kicked the winning goal after the siren; the infamous 'merge match' against Melbourne in Round 22, 1996 where Jason Dunstall’s 100th goal for the season helped seal the match; and the football from the last game played at Waverley Park.
Great nostalgia is also on offer for the fans that saw the Hawk’s first victory over Collingwood at Victoria Park 50 years ago, when John Peck’s goal after the siren enabled the Hawks’ to register the Club’s first win over the Magpies.
The football from the game was beautifully hand-painted with the match results and was presented to John Peck at the Club’s AGM by Collingwood Vice President T. W. Sherrin.
Another highlight of the new exhibit is a football from Broken Hill artist Pro Hart painted for Robert DiPierdomenico in 1987.
This is the first time that Dipper’s football has been shown in public.
