Young midfielder Sam Sheldon will play his first official AFL match this Saturday night against Essendon after he was named among four inclusions to the Lions' senior team.
Cheynee Stiller, Albert Proud and Scott Harding were also added to the side that lost to Geelong by 93 points last weekend at Skilled Stadium.
Stiller returns for his 50th AFL match while Harding and Proud have both earned a senior recall after impressing with the Lions Reserves over the past couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Bradd Dalziell (knee) and Tom Collier (AC joint) will miss this Saturday night's match through injury while Lachlan Henderson and Jason Roe have both been omitted.
It will prove a landmark day for Sheldon who has endured a tough start to his football career since being drafted to the Club as an underage recruit with Selection No.70 in the 2006 National Draft.
The former Oakleigh Chargers premiership player and Haileybury College Best and Fairest broke his leg during his first season with the Lions and was sidelined for more than half of 2008 with osteitis pubis.
The bad luck continued for the 20 year-old after he was struck down with Glandular Fever at beginning of his first pre-season under new Senior Coach Michael Voss.
Sheldon has since impressed the Lions match committee with his performances in the local AFLQ competition which earned him his first senior call-up.
