Meet Crows member Keely - the first four-legged season ticketholder at the Adelaide Crows and first dog allowed to watch AFL matches at AAMI Stadium.

A companion guide dog, Keely has become quite a star in Bay 146 where she sits and watches Crows games alongside her master, vision impaired Bruce Ind.

Bruce suffers from macular degeneration and has only enough sight "to still cause trouble".

A long time Crows fan, Bruce, who has been legally blind for 17 years, used to stay home and listen to the radio broadcast on FIVEaa but decided he wanted to be at the games "live" and soak up the atmosphere.

So Bruce approached the Club to see if it was at all possible. The request was a first for the Crows membership department and staffer Leonie Way remembers the call vividly.

"It's not the sort of request you get every day - ‘can I bring my dog to the football?’," Ms Way said.

"We have a number of members and supporters who are vision impaired but they do not attend our games because they can't actually see the game.

"To have a vision impaired member who wants a seat so they can hear the football and be a part of the atmosphere was quite unique because we had to include Keely.

"Once we had SANFL approval to allow a dog into AAMI Stadium we were able to find seats with easy access for both Bruce, his son Peter and of course Keely."

Eight-year-old Keely has her own membership card and now has her own legion of fans.

Once Bruce takes off her guide dog harness and her official work is over Keely can relax and lap up the attention from fellow Crows members.

When Bruce opens his rucksack to pull out Keely's scarf and coat, she shows her appreciation by wildly wagging her tail much to the amusement of the regulars around her.

Bruce is so grateful to the Club for their support.

"We come rain, hail or shine now," Bruce said. "I would not be able to come without Keely.

"She has made so much difference to my life and gives me the confidence and guidance when we are out - she is my eyes.

"And for the Adelaide Football Club to make her and I feel so welcome means so much to me."

Keely will feature on Adelaide's Channel Nine news on Wednesday, May 11.
