GEELONG has called a media conference for 3pm on Tuesday amid speculation that dual premiership coach Mark Thompson has quit the club.

Thompson, who has one year left on his contract, has been linked with a return to Essendon as senior assistant to new coach James Hird.

Geelong CEO Brian Cook and general manager of football operations Neil Balme will hold the media conference.
