ESSENDON'S Dustin Fletcher will appear before the tribunal on Tuesday night to contest his one-match ban for tripping

Fletcher was charged with a level-two tripping offence against Bulldogs forward Barry Hall during the second quarter of Friday night’s match at Etihad Stadium.

Fletcher’s existing record means he is unable to gain a reduced penalty with an early guilty plea, and will not risk extra weeks should his appeal fail.

Hawthorn full-forward Lance Franklin was also given a one-week ban for his head-high bump on Sydney Swan Martin Mattner at the MCG on Sunday.

The Hawks have not yet indicated whether they intend to accpet the sanction.

Brisbane Lions skipper Jonathan Brown was fined $1,200 for pulling the hair of Collingwood opponent Harry O'Brien -- the second time O'Brien has had his hair pulled this season. Brown can escape with a $900 fine with an early guilty plea.

West Coast midfielder Adam Selwood has also copped a $1200 fine for making negligent contact with umpire Ray Chamberlain during the Eagles’ loss to Carlton at Etihad Stadium. As with Brown, an early guilty plea will reduce his fine to $900.
