Laycock was on fire early and was a major contributor throughout Essendon's 14-point win over Collingwood in the annual Anzac Day blockbuster at the MCG, with nine kicks, nine handballs, seven marks and seven hit-outs.
He shared ruck duties for the Bombers with Aaron Henneman in what was only his seventh game for the club.
Laycock was drafted to Essendon from the Tassie Mariners with the Bombers first selection – number 10 overall - at the 2002 NAB AFL Draft, and made his debut against Carlton in round 19, 2004.
