The tall and athletic 18 year old had 14 touches, and booted a goal at the MCG in his side's upset win over the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Saturday.
He has played in all four matches so far this season and first came under notice with three goals against Richmond at the MCG in round two, including a superb crumbing goal on the run from deep in the forward pocket.
Franklin was Hawthorn's second selection and the no.5 overall at the 2004 NAB AFL Draft and joined the Hawks from West Perth. He played for Western Australia at last year's NAB AFL under 18 championships.
The Hawks have also unveiled other promising youngsters Jarryd Roughead, Jordan Lewis, Harry Miller, Josh Thurgood and Simon Taylor in 2005.
