A number of players have returned to pre-season training with more facial hair that usual… they say it is all in the name of a good cause.

That cause is Movember. A good chance to laugh at how much facial hair each can grow, or lack thereof, but there is also a serious side to Movember.

The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men's health issues and donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative.

Nick Malceski, Michael O’Loughlin, Jarred Moore, Daniel O’Keefe, Nick Smith, Marty Mattner, Pat Veszpremi and Brett Meredith are among some of the players growing a mo this Movember and the banter has already begun…

“I live with Doc (O’Keefe) and Mezza (Meredith) and we have made a house competition out of it as well,” Moore said.

“Mezza is hurting and has no chance of winning our mo-off and I am not sure mine will change much over the month.

“Doc's is coming along nicely and is winning our house challenge so far.

“Overall Mal (Malceski) is clearly winning at this stage but he cheated... he started early.”

Malceski returns fire, "Funny Jarred said I cheated, his mo has been growing since the last game of the season! I could shave tomorrow and still beat him the next day."
