Cats skipper Cameron Ling will be sidelined with a hamstring injury he suffered at training on Saturday.
Ling felt the twinge at Torquay on Saturday morning. Normal recovery for a hamstring injury is three - four weeks, putting him in doubt for the opening of the NAB Cup.
"It's just a hamstring injury - nothing major but at the same time he will be sidelined for a couple of weeks before he can start running again,” Cats general manager of football Neil Balme told geelongcats.com.au.
“But over the long term, we don’t think it’s a major issue. Injuries are part of the game and sometimes a player can just push a bit too hard and that’s what seems to have happened to Lingy.
“He’s had a great pre-season and really trained well. It’s obviously a setback but it shouldn’t affect him too much going forward.”
