The Carlton & Northern Bullants Football Clubs are pleased to announce that David Teague will coach the Blues VFL affiliate in 2008.

In a break with recent tradition, Teague will assume the role of playing coach.

Teague played 50 games for Carlton after joining the Blues from the Kangaroos at the end of the 2003 season. He had an immediate impact at Carlton, winning the inaugural 2004 John Nicholls Medal.

“I see this as a great opportunity to maintain my connection with Carlton and football at a professional level,” Teague said.

“I look forward to not only working with Brett and the Carlton coaching panel, but also further developing our young emerging players.

“This is a rare opportunity to continue to play the game I love, as I embark on my coaching career.”

Teague was recruited from Katandra via the Murray Under 18s and Kangaroos and played a total of 83 AFL games, making his AFL debut in 2001 and his Carlton debut in 2004.
