PORT Adelaide captain Dom Cassisi says his side is ready to “draw a line in the sand” and find some consistency following Sunday’s disappointing 55-point loss to the Swans.

Cassisi and the club’s leadership group met for more than two hours on Monday morning trying to find answers for the lacklustre first term, which ultimately cost the Power any chance at victory.

Prior to Monday’s meeting Cassisi ordered his teammates to Alberton for a punishing 7am pool session.

Cassisi, who is in his first season as skipper, said he felt compelled to act after the team’s non-competitive start at the SCG.

"We weren't happy with our first quarter. After that the game was pretty even, but the damage had already been done,” Cassisi said on Wednesday.

“We really needed to think about what we were doing and for us to get to the club at 7am and swim 100 laps gave us enough time to think about what we're doing and work towards us trying to be more consistent.

"As leaders it’s important we step up and make clear to the rest of the group that a performance like that is definitely not good enough. We couldn't just rock up Monday pretending that everything was alright.”

The Swans players ran riot in the first term and piled on eight goals before first-year player Hamish Hartlett showed some guile to register his side’s opening major.

The players have since spoken about being more accountable for their direct opponent especially at the stoppages.

Cassisi said the group was determined to set the tone early against Collingwood on Sunday.

"We want to be perceived in the competition as being a team that is tough and plays hard and attacking footy,” Cassisi said.

“At this point in time we're doing it for one week but not the next and until we get consistency we're not going to be regarded in that area.

"We need a [better] physical effort. We've definitely got the skill and the ability to take teams on, but unless we're winning that hard, contested footy then that's going to waste a little bit, so that'll be our focus for the first 5-10 minutes [on Sunday].”

Port Adelaide has already dropped seasoned performers David Rodan and Josh Carr for sub-par form this season and Cassisi said there were more players walking the selection tightrope.

Across the border, Collingwood could have three match genuine winners, Dale Thomas, Alan Didak and Paul Medhurst return to the side this week.

"We're waiting for Collingwood’s selections, but you definitely have to have those three key players in the forefront of you mind,” Cassisi said.
