AS EXPECTED, Barry Hall will play his first AFL match since round four after being recalled to the Sydney Swans line-up for Saturday night’s clash with St Kilda.

Hall has spent two months on the sidelines with a broken wrist while also serving a suspension for striking the Eagles’ Brent Staker, but will return to tackle his former side.

His call-up is the only change for the Swans, who have dropped Ed Barlow to make way for their star spearhead.

St Kilda has recalled two of its oldest players for the crunch match at the SCG, while Sam Gilbert is also a welcome inclusion as the Saints prepare for one of the toughest assignments in footy.

Robert Harvey and Steven King will both add experience to the St Kilda team, with Shane Birss, Leigh Fisher and youngster David Armitage all omitted.

Essendon has made four changes ahead of Friday night’s clash against the Eagles.

Jason Laycock, Jay Neagle, Adam Ramanauskas and Jobe Watson are all back for the Bombers, while Bachar Houli (groin), Tayte Pears (foot), Jason Winderlich (back) and Tom Bellchambers (omitted) all depart the side that fell to Hawthorn by 51 points.

Jarrod Atkinson, Ricky Dyson and Mal Michael are the emergencies.

After making seven changes last week, West Coast has scaled it back to three for the showdown with the Bombers.

Chad Fletcher (back), Michael Braun (knee) and Jaymie Graham (omitted) did not make the trip to Melbourne and have been replaced by Brad Ebert, Will Schofield and Mark LeCras, who plays his first game since sustaining a groin injury in round one.

Graham is an emergency along with Steven Armstrong and Jamie McNamara.

There is only one change at the Western Bulldogs but it is a big one, with star forward Robert Murphy returning after serving his one-match ban.

Stephen Tiller is the unlucky Dog to make way for his classy teammate as Rodney Eade’s men prepare to tackle an in-form Brisbane Lions.

Leigh Matthews has made four changes to his team – two of them forced – as it tries to shore up its spot in the eight and continue its charge towards the top four.

Daniel Bradshaw (hamstring) and Scott Harding (knee) will both miss one of round 12’s big matches, while Robert Copeland and youngster James Hawksley have been omitted.

While there are some big names out for the Lions, they are also able to replace them with quality players.

Josh Drummond, Ashley McGrath, Cheynee Stiller and Jason Roe all return for the Lions in arguably their biggest game of 2008.

Fremantle has made four changes as Mark Harvey searches for a winning combination against the Kangaroos.

Byron Schammer is back for Freo with Roger Hayden, Ryan Murphy and Ryley Dunn also earning a call-up.

Dunn, 22, has played five games for the club but comes off the rookie list for his first match this year after being delisted at the end of 2007.

Heath Black (suspended), Shaun McManus (injured), Kepler Bradley (omitted) and Scott Thornton (omitted) all come out of the side beaten by the Brisbane Lions last week.

Thornton, Bradley and Paul Duffield make up the emergency list.

Dynamic midfielder Daniel Wells makes a welcome return to the North Melbourne line-up for the trip west with 22-year-old forward Josh Smith in for his second game for the club.

Leigh Brown and Scott McMahon drop back to the emergency list with Corey Jones.

Adelaide has regained first-choice ruckman Jonathon Griffin for Saturday night’s encounter with the Hawks at AAMI Stadium.

The big man missed last week’s win over the Tigers with a sore hip, but comes in for Ken McGregor who was omitted in the only change for the Crows.

McGregor is an emergency with Andy Otten and Nick Gill.

Hawthorn will blood young ruckman Brent Renouf for a debut against Adelaide on Saturday night after improving big man Simon Taylor was forced to miss with a cut knee.

Renouf, a 200cm ruckman from Southport, was the No. 24 selection in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft and earned his chance after some impressive form at VFL level.

He is one of two changes for the Hawks, with penetrating left-footer Stuart Dew also returning after overcoming his hamstring strain suffered against Melbourne in round nine.

Emerging midfielder Josh Kennedy makes way for Dew.

Geelong has recalled rookie Harry Taylor for Sunday’s clash with Port Adelaide at Skilled Stadium.

Taylor will be one of at least two changes the Cats make as they try to fill the big shoes left by injured full-back Matthew Scarlett.

Shannon Byrnes (foot) is the other omission from the Geelong line-up. Who takes his place remains a mystery although Joel Selwood, who missed last week’s win over North Melbourne with a virus, has been picked in the 25-man squad.

Premiership defender Josh Hunt, who has overcome a shoulder injury, is also in the mix for a recall along with emerging forward Ryan Gamble and speedy defender Kane Tenace.

Star midfielder Shaun Burgoyne is back for Port Adelaide after serving his three-match suspension for rough conduct on Sam Mitchell, with Nick Lower, Jacob Surjan, Nathan Lonie and Damon White all added to an extended bench.

Paul Stewart (neck) and Toby Thurstans (knee) drop out of the side that was sensationally reeled in by Carlton last Sunday evening.

Collingwood should regain talented ball-winner Scott Pendlebury for Sunday’s blockbuster against the Blues at the MCG.

Pendlebury was a late withdrawal from Monday’s gritty win over Melbourne with a back complaint but is one of three additions to the 22 that overcame a dogged Demons outfit.

He has been named on a seven-man interchange, with Ben Reid and Cameron Wood the other possible inclusions.

Carlton’s up-and-coming defender Michael Jamison is into the starting 18 after shrugging off his shoulder problem.

Mark Austin and one-time Crow Darren Pfeiffer are the other additions for the Blues, who will finalise their squad on Friday evening.

It’s a case of out-with-the-old and in-with-the-new at Richmond where the Tigers will make at least four changes after their disappointing second half against Adelaide last week.

Coach Terry Wallace has dropped Greg Tivendale and Kayne Pettifer, while Will Thursfield (hamstring) and Jake King (hamstring) will both miss.

Last year’s No. 18 draft pick Alex Rance is a chance to make his AFL debut after being named in a preliminary 25-man squad, while Daniel Jackson, Mitch Morton and Jack Riewoldt have been included in the starting 18.

Other youngsters in line for a recall are Dean Polo and Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls.

Goalsneak Aaron Davey returns from a two week lay-off with a hamstring strain as Melbourne prepares to take on the Tigers. James Frawley is also back from a shoulder strain that kept him out of the Queen’s Birthday clash, while Chris Johnson goes straight into the starting 18 and Mark Jamar, Matthew Whelan and Nathan Carroll have been added to a seven-man bench.

Jared Rivers' run of bad luck continues with a groin injury forcing him out and expected shoulder surgery ending Brent Moloney’s season. Daniel Bell has been dropped.
