In his 15th season at North Melbourne, Brent Harvey faced a big challenge having to lead one of the youngest sides in the competition.

After an emotional week leading up to the round two clash against St Kilda with the passing of his much loved Nan, Harvey had what he dubbed the worst game of his career. The fallout gave some commentators reason to cast doubts over his longevity at the highest level.

But as he's done on countless occasions, the champion midfielder responded in the only way he knows how, with a brilliant performance the following week and for the remainder of the season.

His greatest achievement was still to come though, as he celebrated his 300th game against the Eagles with his family and friends on hand to witness the momentous occasion.

Already committed for the 2011 campaign, the number 29 is showing no signs of slowing down and will no doubt become the club’s games record holder, barring injury.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says: Reached the 300-game milestone with no signs of slowing down. Will push for his fifth Syd Barker Medal. Continues to grow as a leader.

Highlights: Round 3 v West Coast - 44 possessions, 1 goal

Round 13 v Port Adelaide - 32 possessions, 2 goals

Round 19 v Fremantle - 34 possessions, 3 goals

Brent has been a wonderful player at North and doesn't get the credit he deserves he is definitely a top 10 player in the AFL, thanks for a great year North

Boomer will win the Syd Barker medal again this year. Another standout year should see him beat Swallow for the title. Clearly the most creative & line breaking player at the club which is a shame given his age. Clearly we need to find more of these types of players if we are going to improve. Even our younger midfielders have an apparant lack of leg speed. Boomer is a true champion & has been an elite player at this level for a very long time. Well done & go Kangas!
