Geelong has traded midfielder Nathan Djerrkura to the Western Bulldogs for a third round draft pick in the upcoming national draft.

Djerrkura spent four years at Skilled Stadium, playing four games. He debuted against Essendon in 2009, playing three games as the Cats went on to claim the premiership.

The 22 year old Djerrkura played just once in 2010, the round three clash with Fremantle at Subiaco.

“Nathan thought that he would get some greater opportunities at another club, and we understand his point of view,” Geelong general manager of football operations Neil Balme said.

“The Bulldogs offer was a fair one and we wish Nathan well and thank him for his efforts while he was here. He is a fine young man and we hope that he can get an opportunity to play more regularly with the Dogs.”

The paperwork on the deal that will formalise the trade will be lodged with the AFL in due course.
