Putting the dumbbell weights and running sessions on hold for the day, the young pair jumped at the chance to visit the Hoppers Crossing based centre during the busy school holiday period and relive their childhood days while meeting some of the areas youngest Bulldogs supporters.
While initially signing autographs and posing for photos with dozens of adoring fans, the pair couldn’t help but get excited amongst all the play equipment the centre has to offer.
“I think both Shaun and Ryan were just as excited as any of the kids when they walked in and saw the slide and some of the other fun pieces of equipment the centre has!” said Kidz Digz co-owner Kathryn Wilson.
“But on a serious note, it was simply fantastic to have the guys come down and mingle with the kids and the parents. There is a lot of support for the club in this area so it is great to see the Bulldogs give something back to the community while hopefully enjoying themselves at the same time,” she said.
Those sentiments were supported by parent Pauline Thompson who says her two children, Jordan and Brendan, have been waiting anxiously to meet both players since learning they would be appearing at the centre.
“We saw the ad that the players would be down here in the Super Saver flyer and as soon as the kids saw it we just had to come down. This morning I was woken up by the boys at 6.00am asking if we could go down and see the Bulldogs players yet, so they were certainly very excited,” she said.
Thompson said she was very appreciative of the players taking the time to visit the centre as it provided some fun and excitement for her sons during the school holidays.
“It’s certainly a highlight of the school holidays for the kids. We come to the centre regularly anyway but having the players here was a nice added bonus,” she said.
