With over 20,000 Collingwood supporters voting for the Collingwoodfc.com.au Fans’ Choice Team of Decade during the month of March, the club can now announce the final side.

Making up the final four spots on the interchange are Tarkyn Lockyer, Ben Johnson, Shane O’Bree and John Anthony.  These four players narrowly missed out on a position in the starting 18 but garnered enough of the vote to make the team.

Unlucky to miss out were former Magpies Brodie Holland, Jarrod Molloy and Paul Williams while supporters didn’t think Dale Thomas deserved a spot in the side.

Holland was particularly unlucky given his record during the decade playing 119 games including two grand finals while finishing second in the Copeland Trophy to James Clement in 2005.

There was no surprise which player acquired the highest support from the Magpie Army with Nathan Buckley featuring in 99% of midfields.  Veteran defender Simon Prestigiacomo received the most support in the back six featuring in 94% of sides while Alan Didak received 94% of the vote for the forwards with Anthony Rocca acquiring 93%.

The team will be published in the upcoming edition of the club’s magazine, ‘In Black and White’ available in the next two weeks.
