The 23-man team will come from a preliminary squad of around 50 players that are currently being considered.
Decisions on players involved in this year’s finals series will be made once their respective seasons have ended.
The Australian team will be coached by the same panel that presided in 2008 with Mick Malthouse to take the senior role for the second time and Nathan Buckley, Matthew Lappin and Glen Jakovich to hold deputy positions.
The team will train together twice in Australia on Tuesday, 12 October and Thursday, 14 October before departing for Cork two days later.
The first Test will be held on Saturday, 23 October at Limerick’s Gaelic Grounds before the decider seven days later at Dublin’s Croke Park.
In the most recent series, North Melbourne captain Brent Harvey captained the side and Carlton midfielder Kade Simpson won the Jim Stynes Medal for the best Australian representative.
Ireland won the series in a clean sweep, which was held in Australia with games in Perth and Melbourne.
Australia won the 2006 title on Irish soil after winning the second game in Dublin by a greater margin than it lost the first.
This series was originally scheduled for October 2009 but the onset of the global financial crisis postponed it for 12 months.
The games are set to be broadcast into Australia on Channel 7.
