The AFL has instructed the Brisbane Lions that they must wear their white Clash Guernsey against the Western Bulldogs for their Round 12 clash at the MCG on Saturday 14 June starting at 2:10pm.

The Club had applied to wear their new Away strip featuring the gold Lion and Fitzroy colours for the fixture, but this was politely rejected by the AFL for not contrasting strongly enough with the Bulldogs’ predominantly red and blue colour scheme.

The Lions responded with a request to wear their traditional Home Guernsey against the Western Bulldogs instead, with pictorial evidence backing up the level of uniform contrast presented, but this was also refused by the AFL.

Therefore, the Club must wear its Clash or Alternate Guernsey for Round 12 in the white strip’s final year under the AFL’s mandatory minimum two-year jersey policy.

The last time the Lions wore their white Clash Guernsey they achieved a stunning 67-point turnaround against Port Adelaide – the Club’s biggest and the 7th greatest in VFL/AFL history. The Lions trailed by 47 points late in the third quarter before running out 20-point winners in the rain.
