Sydney Swans ruckman Shane Mumford has been suspended for two weeks by the AFL tribunal after he was found guilty of rough conduct against Geelong’s Gary Ablett.

The conduct was downgraded from reckless to negligent, but the tribunal found that the impact on Ablett from the tackle by Mumford in the fourth quarter was of medium impact, and imposed a two week ban.

The AFL match review panel had originally imposed a three week ban on Mumford.

Mumford will miss the Swans matches against the Western Bulldogs this Saturday at Manuka, and Fremantle the following Saturday at the SCG.

As Mumford left the tribunal hearing in Melbourne tonight he said he was very disappointed to have been found guilty.

Canadian Mike Pyke, who came into the team last weekend to replace injured ruckman Mark Seaby, will assume the chief ruck duties this weekend.

“Mike will be able to handle it, he’s been playing good footy and he can do it,’’ Mumford said.
