HAWTHORN assistant coach Adam Simpson says he will wait until the end of the finals before looking at a potential job with Greater Western Sydney next season.
After the departure of Mark Williams, the Giants have signalled their intention to hire a new senior assistant to Kevin Sheedy for 2013, who would be in line to succeed Sheedy as head coach.
Simpson, who has been with the Hawks since the end of 2009 after a 306-game playing career at North Melbourne, has been touted as a candidate for the role.
While admitting to senior coaching ambitions, he said on Tuesday he was fully focused on Hawthorn's preliminary final clash with Adelaide this weekend.
"It's difficult to look at," Simpson said.
"Every assistant coach wants to [be a] senior coach, but a lot's going on here.
"With what's going on now, I just can't concentrate on that at the moment.
"We're trying to concentrate on this week, and I'm not looking at anything else other than that."
The Hawks held their main training session for the week at Waverley on Tuesday morning, with Simpson reporting both Jordan Lewis and Clinton Young as having trained well.
The pair missed the qualifying final win over Collingwood with injury, but look certain to come back into the line-up to face the Crows.
"They both got through," Simpson said.
"We trained well. For a week off, there was plenty of energy out there.
"We did a bit today, so we had a good blowout, and those two will be available this week."
