The budding young footballers, aged 5-12 years, have been nominated by their local primary schools to attend the clinics, which will be run by Adelaide Crows community development staff and feature Adelaide Crows players.
The first of the three clinics will be held at Strathalbyn Oval this Wednesday, August 24, from 5.30-6.30pm where Crows midfielder Brodie Martin will be on hand to help teach some footy skills.
The second clinic will be held this Thursday night, August 25 at Bordertown Oval from 5-6pm. (Please note there will not be a Crows player at this clinic.)
The third and final New Holland Country Crows clinic will be at Riverton Oval on Wednesday, August 31 from 5.30-6.30pm with injured Crows midfielder Brad Symes helping out.
The Adelaide Football Club has invested more than $50,000 and hundreds of hours into the New Holland Country Crows program which last year featured clinics in Jamestown, Kadina and Nuriootpa.
With almost 20% of our membership based in regional SA, New Holland Country Crows has further connected our team with our regional members and supporters as well as further develop our next crop of Crows stars.
This year the New Holland Country Crows consists of the coaching clinics as well as whereby regionally based schools could win one of 15 school sports kits valued at $200 each these schools will be chosen from the New Holland dealerships. The sports kits include ballbag, footballs and New Holland caps.
The Club hopes that through this initiative, and the wonderful support of Country Crows naming right sponsor New Holland Agriculture, that thousands of young budding footballers will be encouraged to play our game and develop their skills and love of the game.
A number of past and present Adelaide Crows players have hailed from regional South Australia including Mark Ricciuto, Tony Modra, Shaun Rehn, Rodney Maynard and current players Bernie Vince, Sam Jacobs, Brodie Martin, Graham Johncock and Matthew Jaensch as well as caretaker coach Mark Bickley who comes from Port Pirie.
