FREMANTLE utility Dean Solomon has signed a one-year contract extension for the 2009 season.

Solomon, who joined Fremantle in 2007 after 158 games with Essendon, finished equal fourth in Freo's best and fairest award in that season.

His 2008 season was blighted by an eight-match suspension for striking Geelong's Cameron Ling in round 15. He will be able to resume in round two of 2009.

Solomon, 28, has played 33 games for Fremantle.
