Arrive early before the finals and get into the sporting spirit with a visit to Australia’s first dedicated sport museum.
On match days, entry to the museum for ticket holders costs just $7.50 per adult, $4 per child (5-15 years) and $5.50 for concession card holders. There is also a special event day family ticket ($25), which grants entry for two adults and four children.
See first-hand the original Aussie rules (hand-written by Australian football’s founding fathers), pay homage to your team and see material from AFL’s greats, including Ted Whitten’s 1954 guernsey and blazer, as well as material from Alex Jesaulenko, Ron Barassi, Kevin Bartlett, James Hird, Gary Ablett, and more.
Opening today, the museum is also showing the exhibition WEG’s Day: the Premiership Posters, which brings together all 55 original premiership posters designed by William Ellis Green. See the first ever WEG poster from the 1954 Footscray premiership year.
If you can’t make it during the finals, remember all holders of AFL club memberships are eligible for a 10% discount at the museum anytime of the year – just show your membership card at the museum reception desk.
