Port Adelaide has an injury list of three players – its lowest for some years.

It has presented the Power with a wealth of in form players, all lining up for spots for Saturday’s Showdown.

At the top of that list is captain Warren Tredrea who kicked seven goals for the Port Adelaide Magpies on Thursday night in his first competitive match since Round 15 last year.

But Power coach Mark Williams said after the game that Tredrea has no guarantee of playing this weekend.

“Tredrea played well on Thursday night and he’s some chance of playing this week, so we’ll look and see how he pulls up,” Williams said on Sunday.

Tredrea could be an obvious replacement for key forward Adam Cockshell, who reported a sore ankle from the Power’s win over the Kangaroos. The pre-season draft pick will need to pass a fitness test to be available for selection this week. He was the Power’s only injury from Sunday’s win.

After a close to injury free pre-season, the Power has more of its squad available than it has for many seasons.

After Round 2 last year, the Power reported a seven-man injury list that included Dean Brogan, Troy Chaplin, Josh Francou, Adam Kingsley, Warren Tredrea and Gavin Wanganeen.

Nine Power players were on the injury list at the same time in 2005 (including two suspensions), and even in the club’s premiership season of 2004, it had the likes of Josh Francou, Roger James, Byron Pickett and Matthew Primus on the injury list two weeks in.

The lack of players in the medical rooms has left the likes of Brad Symes, Adam Thomson, Greg Bentley, Ryan Willits, Fabian Deluca and Matt Thomas, who all impressed in games last year, fighting for limited spots in the Power line-up.

“A lot of them got the opportunity (to play last year) because we decided to send players to have surgery and we made some tough decisions ... and hopefully some of it is starting to pay off,” Williams said.

“I went and watched Westies and Sturt playing (on Saturday) ... I thought Deluca played particularly well which was great for our ruck division. I’m thinking (Justin) Westhoff is probably the player playing the best of any of our SANFL players and we didn’t know him this time last year, so it’s really positive.

“I thought Thomson was terrific and I thought Bentley was good and as you say Symes played well again last night. Be assured we are nowhere near where we want to be, and there’s a lot of improvement left at our club.”

Williams alluded to some of those players being in line to return to the Power as soon as this week.

“There were a lot of players out there (for Port Adelaide) that didn’t touch the ball much today and we were disappointed with that. And maybe we just need to give a couple of others a rest and play someone else, because game time into our young players is important and giving them opportunities to play under those conditions is vitally important for our club going forward.”

Forward Daniel Motlop remains two or three weeks away from returning from the badly sprained ankle he sustained in Round 1.

First-year player Robbie Gray missed West Adelaide’s match over the weekend with a hip injury.

The Power injury list for the week beginning Monday 9 April is as follows...

Adam Cockshell (ankle) – test
Robbie Gray (hip) – test
Daniel Motlop (ankle) – 2-3 weeks

Meanwhile, Tom Logan has accepted a $900 sanction with an early plea for wrestling Andrew Swallow on Sunday.
