FREMANTLE’S general manager of football operations Chris Bond says minimal progress had been made in negotiating a suitable trade for ruckman Robbie Warnock.

Speaking after the first day of the player exchange period, Bond said “we're just testing the waters with everyone at the moment”.

“It's the start of trade week and we know it goes until the end of the week, so we're just testing the waters with everyone at the moment," he said.

"There's been a few clubs that have expressed interest, so it's just a matter now of going through the process and seeing where we're at with it.

"He's a valuable player to us; we've said that all along. He's a young player, we're going with a young list at the moment, so we've got that option and he's obviously valuable and he's a required player, so we'll be hoping to work that out during the week."

Last week the club rejected Carlton's initial offer of its second-round pick, but Bond would not be drawn on what level of compensation it would take for Fremantle to green light a trade.

"It's in discussion isn't it?" he said.

"I mean Carlton has made it public about their [pick] 24 and we need to have a chat and we'll go from there."

The Blues' contingent, led by chief executive Greg Swann, declined to comment as they left the meeting.
