MELBOURNE midfielder Brad Green has agreed to terms that will keep him at the club until the end of 2011.

Green had been courted by Collingwood and the Sydney Swans throughout this week's trade period, however, he eventually made clear his reluctance to re-locate to the harbour city.

The 27-year-old finished third in this year's best and fairest count after 20 games and an average of 23 possessions.

He has played 186 games since his 2000 debut and the three-year deal will almost certainly ensure he sees his career out as a Demon.

General manager of football operations Chris Connolly was pleased with the news of Green's commitment.

"We are really happy that we were able to come to terms with Brad on his new three-year deal," he told melbournefc.com.au.

"It did take us longer than expected, but we respect the fact that this was a big decision for Brad, and we are pleased that he will now become a 10-year player for this team, and most likely a one-club man.

"Not only has Brad been a sensational player for the Demons, but his leadership around the club will be vitally important as we develop and nurture our young group of players."

After taking some time to consider the club's offer, presented early in the week, Green decided Melbourne was where he wanted to be.

"This was a really important decision for me, and I wanted to take the time to make sure I was making the right choice for my future," he said.

"I am now relieved I have made this decision to stay and look forward to being a Demon for life."
