SIMON Black, Luke Power, Jed Adcock and Daniel Merrett will be vice-captains of the Brisbane Lions to new skipper Jonathan Brown in 2009.

The Lions said in a statement on Saturday that the new leadership group "presents an exciting blend of youth and experience with Adcock, aged 23, and Merrett, aged 24, set to fulfil official leadership roles for the first time alongside former co-captains and AFL champions Black, aged 29, and Power, aged 28".

The Lions have spread their leaders across the field, with Brown in attack, Merrett in defence and Black, Power and Adcock roaming the midfield.
