BRENT Harvey and Drew Petrie remain undecided about playing on in 2017, but the North Melbourne greats could make decisions on their futures next week.

Harvey, 38, and Petrie, 33, were told by North last month they would not be offered contracts for 2017, their careers at Arden St ending shortly after in a 62-point elimination final defeat to Adelaide.

Petrie has since been approached by West Coast about extending his career under former teammate and Eagles coach Adam Simpson, but Harvey, the AFL games-record holder, has yet to be linked with any clubs.

The veterans' manager, Shane Casley of TLA Australia, told AFL.com.au on Thursday his clients were closer to deciding their futures.

"I have spoken to them both this week a couple of times and I think probably this time next week I'll be a bit clearer (on what they want to do) and they will be as well," Casley said.

"From Boomer's point of view, he certainly knows he can play. It's whether he wants to pull on someone else's jumper.

"Drew's just weighing it all up as well."

Asked whether there had been much rival interest in Harvey, Casley said: "To be honest, not really because we've been pretty quiet and silent on what we want to do.

"I think if he was to announce to the football world he wanted to go on there might be a bit of inquiry.

"But we're not picking up the phone and ringing anyone."

Harvey finished his career at Arden Street on 432 games, having passed Michael Tuck's former League record in round 19, while Petrie climbed to second on North's all-time games list (316) before his departure.

Casley also manages Majak Daw, who re-signed with the Kangaroos for three years on Wednesday despite growing opposition interest.

Daw, 25, has played 25 games in seven seasons with North, but showed encouraging signs in 2016 and is well placed to cement a regular senior spot following Petrie's departure.

"To get three years was a great commitment from the footy club for Maj. It just showed Maj the faith they have in him and he's very, very keen to repay it," Casley said.
