The AFL confirms the North Melbourne Football Club returned to Melbourne today, Sunday April 25, following their Round Six match against Fremantle at Optus Stadium in Perth.
The Club's travelling party was COVID-19 tested on arrival at the club and will isolate in their homes for 14 days in-line with current Victorian State Government directions relating to arrivals from a red zone.
The North Melbourne travelling party has been granted an exemption to leave their homes by the Victorian State Government for the following reasons:
- to train and play per AFL protocols;
- to obtain medical care or medical supplies;
- on compassionate grounds as already approved by the Victorian State Government.
All training sessions will be closed to the general public with media to be completed remotely via video conference for the 14-day period.
As previously communicated, the West Coast Eagles returned to Perth on a chartered flight last night after their Round Six match against the Geelong Cats. Both AFL clubs based in Western Australia will abide by the Western Australian State Government regulations which are currently in place until 11:59pm AWST Monday, April 26.
The AFL will continue to be led by the advice of respective governments and public health officials with the health and safety of everyone in the game and the wider community remaining the priority.
