Former Lions triple premiership ruckman Clark Keating will accompany the umpires out onto the field prior to this Saturday night’s season opener against Fremantle at the Gabba to deliver the ‘First Footy’ of the season.

‘Crackers’ Keating played 139 games and kicked 83 goals over more than a decade with the Lions and played a critical part in delivering three consecutive premierships to the Club from 2001-2003.

He was inducted as a Lions Life Member at the end of 2006 after announcing his retirement, and now forms part of Triple M’s entertaining AFL commentary team.

The ‘First Footy’ initiative was successfully introduced across all Round One matches in 2010 and will now become a regular AFL tradition.

Keating’s fellow three-time premiership team-mate and 2001 Norm Smith Medallist Shaun Hart handed over the inaugural 'First Footy' last year at the Gabba.

So keep an eye out for ‘Crackers’ prior to the game and celebrate the contribution of another Lions legend.
