North Melbourne’s first and second year players spent a day fine-tuning their defensive skills.... but not the kind they are used to at Sandown Raceway on Monday.

The Kangaroos' development squad undertook a range of driving exercises and were educated on the importance of driver safety and awareness at the Mazda Track Day.

After a lengthy training presentation, the players jumped in the Mazda3 and Mazda6 vehicles awaiting them to test out their experience, or lack thereof, behind the wheel.

Some of North's more recent draft additions boast barely a year in the driver's seat, and it seemed first-year player Ben Mabon spent more time knocking over cones than getting around them.

Rookie Majak Daw also copped flack for his 'nanna' approach and hesitation in putting his foot on the accelerator. But there were some stand-outs.. Cameron Pederson, Ben Cunnington, Aaron Black and Brayden Norris all impressed with their fearless, but safe approach through the different activities.

The boys from Aegis Park may have considered themselves race car drivers for the day, however it was back to reality on Tuesday. After an exhilarating day off, the players returned to familiar territory for a tough session on the training track.

Time for Action!

Did you know that every six seconds, someone is killed or seriously injured on the world's roads? Or that road trauma is the biggest killer of young people world wide?
It's time to take action!

On Wednesday, North Melbourne fans are urged to get behind the launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety. You can show your support too by signing your name on the Decade of Action wall which will be set up in the Atrium at Fed Square from 11 -1pm on Wednesday, 11 May.

If you can't make it, tell your friends about this campaign and take extra care on the roads.
