Power vice-captain Michael Wilson is likely to miss six weeks of football after suffering a rare injury in Friday night’s round 5 53-point victory over St Kilda.

Wilson tore his pectoral (chest) muscle midway through the second quarter whilst laying a trademark tackle.

The inspirational leader went straight down into the rooms, was assessed by the Power’s medical team and by half-time was on his way home with his family, wife Leah and four children.

Although not common, the injury is similar to that suffered by retired teammate Matthew Bishop in round 11 last year. Bishop missed five games as a result.

In arguably career-best form Wilson’s absence will be a significant loss to the Power side. The pain will however be eased by the fact that Danyle Pearce, Daniel Motlop and Dean Brogan are all expected to be available this week.
