VIC Country and Western Australia were big winners at Blacktown Olympic Park in Sydney on Sunday.

The matches between NSW/ACT v Vic Country and Queensland v Western Australia completed round two of the 2010 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

Vic Country and NSW/ACT were evenly balanced until mid-way through the third quarter, but then the Victorian team ran away with the contest, kicking six goals to one in the final term.

Country had an even contribution around the ground with seven players gathering more than 20 possessions. Geelong’s Jayden Pitt topped the goalkicking with four goals from the midfield.

Western Australia outclassed Queensland from the opening bounce. Peel Thunder’s Harley Bennell kicked four goals from the wing and took big mark in the goal square in the third quarter.

West Perth’s Jack Darling, playing at centre half-forward, took nine marks while South Fremantle’s Shane Kersten kicked 5.6 at full-forward.

Queensland captain Joel Wilkinson (from Broadbeach) was his team’s best. Playing in the centre, he gathered 28 possessions and had four clearances.
