The future looked clouded for the 20 year-old after he was dropped from the North Melbourne side in Round 10, but a late call up against Hawthorn five weeks later has paved the way for perhaps the most exciting couple of months in his short career
In round 17 the number 24 was handed the job on Brisbane rising star Daniel Rich. Greenwood kept the first round pick to just 11 possessions while grabbing nine for himself.
Clearly the coaching staff was impressed by his efforts, just one week later he was given one of the most daunting tasks in football; to shut down Carlton superstar Chris Judd.
It didn't phase the former Port Adelaide Magpie though, and after 73 minutes he had kept the Brownlow Medal winner to just 12 possessions. An injury the only thing stopping Greenwood from finishing the job.
A week later and another tough opponent awaited, this time it was Melbourne's Cameron Bruce. In a dominant North Melbourne performance, Greenwood kept the 2008 best and fairest winner to just 11 disposals in 100 minutes of football.
Matthew Priddis may have gotten the better of the 2007 draftee in Round 21, but it didn't take long for Greenwood to reassert himself, holding one of the Brownlow Medal favourites Nick Dal Santo to just eight disposals in the Roos' last gasp win on Sunday.
