ANDREW Browne and Jeff Farmer will return to a Fremantle side attempting to upset Geelong on Saturday.

Browne was one player highlighted by the retired Peter Bell as someone he'd like to see get an opportunity and he will play at Skilled Stadium.

Farmer also returns from a club suspension, Michael Johnson and Luke McPharlin come back from injury, and Ryan Crowley is fit after overcoming a rib injury suffered in the loss to Essendon.

Browne has not played an AFL game since round 22 last year due to terrible hamstring injuries that threatened to ruin his career, but the 23-year-old has regained some sensational WAFL form with Claremont and as a result coach Mark Harvey has no hesitation in bringing him in to replace the retired Bell.

"Browne will play. We are pleased he has got through five games at WAFL level now and it suggests to us that he's ready for AFL level," Harvey said.

"It has taken enormous character for him to get back to playing with us. It has been a long road for Andrew and hopefully he can make the most of the next seven or eight weeks."

Harvey was also impressed with Farmer's WAFL performance two weeks ago when he kicked five goals for South Fremantle after being dropped for disciplinary reasons and he will take on Geelong.

"It has basically been two weeks out with the bye last week. I was happy with how he went back there (South Fremantle) and what he did," he said.

"It was a minor offence that saw him put back there and I wasn’t going to go over the top with the penalty. We didn’t decide straight away after he played, it was based on selection yesterday and circumstances have changed a little as we didn’t know Peter Bell was going to retire."

The news isn’t as good for Heath Black, though, with the raking left footer needing to spend more time with South Fremantle before earning a recall. He had a good battle with former Fremantle player Anthony Jones last week when Black lined up at centre half-back and had 25 possessions. Jones also played well and Harvey wants to see more from the veteran.

"No he won't (play)," he said.

"Heath hasn’t played a lot of football this year, which has been unfortunate for him and the team, so when we bring him back he needs to be fully wound up."
