Bentley wore No. 41 when he broke into the Power side while on the rookie list in 2006, then held onto the number in 2007 when he was promoted to the senior list. However, in 2008 he has opted for a change and will take over the No. 22.
The four new senior-listed Power players have a range of numbers.
Marlon Motlop has taken on the No. 11 guernsey, previously owned by Ryan Willits and Damien Hardwick before him.
Mitch Farmer took the No. 13 guernsey which was vacant in 2007. He will be hoping to reverse the trend of the traditionally unlucky number, which hasn’t been too successful at the Power, only featuring in 26 AFL games. They were played by Danny Morton (20), Chris Hall (2), and Ben Eckermann (4). Jonathan Yerbury was the original owner of the jumper in 1997.
Top pick Matthew Lobbe opted for No. 23 which was available after Brad Symes was traded.
Matthew Westhoff kept his close link to his brother and housemate Justin by taking No. 40. Justin wears No. 39.
The club opted to keep the No. 2 guernsey vacant after being successfully worn by Matthew Primus (1997 – 2000) and Darryl Wakelin (2001 – 2007).
