North Melbourne's popular reverse-strip will be worn in away games against Collingwood and Geelong from 2012.

Applause broke out at the Kangaroos' Extraordinary General Meeting when chairman James Brayshaw declared the AFL had accepted the club's proposal to wear its reverse strip for away games against sides like Collingwood and Geelong from 2012.

Already a favourite among supporters, the predominantly royal blue jumper was first worn against Brisbane in round nine and was again on show for the recent clash with Hawthorn in Launceston.

"I think it's really good news," Brayshaw said.

"We've been working hard with the AFL for two years to get it across the line and they've seen the wisdom in our suggestion that the jumper doesn't clash with Collingwood or Geelong."

Thousands of North Melbourne supporters have already expressed their approval of the away guernsey via the club's website, while The Roo Shop has been inundated with requests to purchase the jumper since its release.

Soon, all supporters will be able to own one.
