JUST days after winning Essendon's best and fairest, Bomber David Zaharakis has signed a three-year contract extension with the club.

The classy 21-year-old midfielder was already contracted for the 2012 season, with the new deal seeing him remain at the club until the end of the 2014 season.

The club announced on Monday that speedy midfielder Travis Colyer, 20, has also recommitted to the Bombers, with a new two-year deal tying him to Essendon until the end of the 2013 season.

Essendon football manager Paul Hamilton said the club was pleased to secure the pair’s services.

"We feel both David and Travis will have a strong role to play in Essendon's next period of sustained success and we are obviously very pleased to have them commit to the club," Hamilton said.

"Both players have improved dramatically this season - including David winning his first Crichton Medal in only his third season of football - and we feel they both can develop further over the next two years to establish themselves as integral members of the Essendon midfield."
