Fremantle’s Luke McPharlin, will be teaming up with Courtney Murphy on Sunday, 25th March 2007, to perform at the inaugural Hearing Aid family concert in Perth’s Supreme Court Gardens.

McPharlin, a passionate musician and winner of last year’s Footy Screamers competition on Channel Nine’s Footy Show, is giving up his free time to help raise awareness for the serious issue of hearing loss in the community.

He will share the stage with Murphy’s Lore and perform on the same bill as the Rogue Traders, Ross Wilson, Dave Mann, The Flairz and the Hooley Dooleys.

Hearing loss is an international epidemic and of major concern to health professionals. In Australia it currently costs the economy over $12 billion per year, with over 160,000 people unable to work because they cannot hear well.*

Of greatest concern are issues primarily affecting youth. These include dangerously high sound levels in music venues, the proliferation of personal music players and a correlation to noise induced hearing loss plus an apparent lack of awareness when it comes to ‘safe’ sound exposure and hearing preservation.

Hearing loss is both a serious and growing health problem in this country and all Western Australians, particularly the football community should get behind the Hearing Aid family concert and to show their support by attending.

There is a great line-up to see and all monies raised through ticket sales will benefit medical research into ear and hearing disorders.Hearing Aid will be the first ‘hearing friendly’ concert in Australia. It will feature:

• The use of a delayed speaker system that is time aligned, meaning the audience will enjoy the same high sound quality regardless of location and without adverse impact.

• The creation of an ‘outdoor’ loop system for people with hearing aid devices, so they can enjoy the concert with clarity.

• The sound level will be broadcast at a volume that is lower than the maximum legal limit set in the Environmental Health Protection (EPA) policy for the venue.

• Sound levels will be measured at each speaker prior to performances commencing

• Ear plugs distributed FREE to all patrons.

Hearing Aid is presented by the Ear Science Institute Australia; a local not-for-profit charity. Ticket prices are highly competitive and the event should make a great family day out. Price are, as follows:
