IN another boost for Port Adelaide, the club has signed Jeff Major as a member for Season 2011, joining the 27,000+ members currently signed up for the coming year.

Major, who lives in NSW, has signed on as a Classic Member.

Senior Coach Matthew Primus said the club was delighted to have Jeff on board again.

“The renewal of Jeff for 2011 is another great result for this football club,” Primus said.

“There’s a real sense that we are building the next successful era of the club and with the addition of Major to a young group featuring Travis Boak, Robbie Gray, Hamish Hartlett and Jackson Trengove, we’ll be in a great position to make our mark on the competition.

“Jeff is part of the backbone of the club and his support is critical to our success in 2011. We look forward to putting in a good performance for Jeff and other NSW supporters when we face the Swans at the SCG in May.”

Jeff said becoming a member meant he felt ‘fulfilled’.

“It’s great to be on board with Matty Primus and the boys in 2011,” Major said.

“I feel fulfilled as a Port Adelaide Football Club member - if I’m not a member I feel a void, almost incomplete. I’ve been on board since day one in the AFL and I’m looking forward to continuing that tradition.

“That’s one of the things I love about this club (the tradition). I love being with the club through the ups and downs - the hard yards - so you can really enjoy the success. You have to be there for the whole ride.”

As a NSW supporter, the game against the Swans in Round 8 at the SCG was naturally the game Jeff was most looking forward to in 2011.

“Round 8 at the SCG is going to be magic,” Major, whose favourite player is Dom Cassisi, said.

“The double header with the Magpies playing before the Power is going to be quite special. I’m sure there’ll be a massive showing from Port Adelaide people here in Sydney and a big travelling base of fans - I can’t wait.

Major’s final message to fans was - “don’t delay, sign up now - the club needs us”.
