THE BRISBANE Lions have narrowed their choice for Friday's No.1 draft pick to two players.
Speaking on ABC Brisbane on Monday, Lions coach Chris Fagan confirmed the club was tossing up between two "very different players" but would not reveal who.
AFL.com.au's draft guru Callum Twomey believes it is down to Cam Rayner and Andrew Brayshaw, while Paddy Dow and Luke Davies-Uniacke would still be in consideration.
Rayner is an explosive 'X-Factor' player who struggled with a 2km time trial on Friday, while Brayshaw is seen as a steady, reliable midfielder with leadership qualities.
"We've got a couple of players we're debating over," Fagan said.
"The two players we're thinking of are two very different players, so it's not as if they're alike, we've just got to decide which one we really want to go for."
Speaking after his first training session with the Lions on Monday, star recruit and former No.1 draft pick Luke Hodge said he'd be there to answer any questions Friday's top selection has.
"Everything they've gone through or are going through, I've been through it," Hodge said.
"Whether it's moving away from home, being a high draft pick or struggling the first few years, because my first three or four years I didn't like footy that much, I played it, but the expectations probably got to me a little bit.
"Anything the younger guys are going through, I've probably been there.
"I'll be there as a sounding board."
