After a month away from Moore Park, the eighth-placed Swans host the ninth-placed Roos at their traditional home ground in a clash that looms as season-defining for both sides.
The Swans are coming off a disappointing loss to a resurgent Richmond and Roberts-Thomson said the SCG crowd would provide a vital boost to the team.
"The season's on the line; we're 7-7 and we need something to kickstart the second half of the season for us," he said.
"That's why in this game, at home at the SCG, in front of our home crowd, we've got a point to prove.
"Our backs are against the wall but we're trying to generate a lot of positive energy around the footy club."
The Swans spent three hours reviewing their round-14 capitulation to the Tigers on Tuesday and Roberts-Thomson said the meeting was a positive experience for all involved.
Rather than any tactical failure, the Swans full-back said his side's inability to sustain its intensity in the face of Richmond's late surge was the reason behind the defeat.
"It was probably one of those games where full credit [goes] to Richmond. They kicked a couple of goals late in the third which gave them a bit of momentum going into the fourth quarter," he said.
"Unfortunately for us, we went into our shells and we stopped attacking the ball and playing that free-flowing game we've been known to play."
North Melbourne has suffered two defeats at the hands of the Swans in 2010 but Roberts-Thomson said there was no chance his side would take a third win for granted.
"We're expecting a very fired-up Kangaroos side. We've had some great match-ups against them and some really tough encounters, and this weekend's going to be no different," he said.
"They've got a fantastic midfield, they've got a strong defence and their forward line is very potent too. We're definitely not taking the Roos lightly."
