AFL SUPER coach Kevin Sheedy brings the Australian Football Experience to Toowoomba in Queensland’s Darling Downs this weekend.

Activities will take part on Saturday, April 19 from 11am to 4pm in Queens Park, Hume Street.
Sheedy will be at the venue to meet football fans from 1pm to 3pm.

Celebrating the game's 150th birthday, the Australian Football Experience is visiting more than 90 towns across the nation - covering every state and territory.

Sheedy said his favourite part of the Australian Football Experience was seeing the reactions of children who came into the Big Footy dome and saw the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup.

"It’s sort of like Mickey Mouse," he said. "They think, ‘Oh, I’ve never seen a cup that big.’"

"And you can see they’re thinking. You’d just love to know their thoughts.

"That’s the best part - when the kids come and see the cup and love to pick it up and have a photo with it."

The Australian Football Experience provides interactive activities for children, including:

  • Autographs and photos with Kevin Sheedy
  • Taking part in the Big Kick, a goalkicking competition for children where daily winners will receive an Australian Football Experience gift pack. All children who participate will have the chance to win tickets for a family of four to the 2008 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
  • Handball Highlights, an opportunity to demonstrate your skills with an Australian football.
  • The opportunity to register your interest in NAB AFL Auskick or PlayAFL.
