POSITION TITLE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
DEPARTMENT Media & Public Relations
STATUS Permanent Full Time
REPORTS TO Media & Public Relations Manager
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES FOR THE POSITION To manage the day to day media and communications functions.
PRIMARY SKILLS REQUIRED
Outstanding organisational skills
Ability to concurrently manage a number of projects to completion and deadline
Outstanding relationship, communication and negotiation skills
Understanding of media, ideally with established relationships
At least 3 years experience in media, public relations or fields requiring similar skills
Ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and ages
Strong work ethic
PRIMARY TASKS
Media
Manage day to day media requests / enquiries
Source and generate proactive media coverage for the club – football and non-football
Media Relationships – develop and nurture relationships with key day to day media
Prepare weekly media releases and other media releases as required
Manage weekly media conferences (outside of coach / official)
Liaise with Football Department on daily basis on day-to-day football issues (training, injuries, etc)
Coordinate monthly media reports
Work with commercial operations department to leverage various opportunities
Prepare weekly game notes
Coordination of flow of information from Youth / CRM for PR opportunities
Coordinate regular media gatherings
Assist with media training
Publications
Manage production and content for all official club Publications, which includes Yearbook, Power to the People, In the Huddle and Annual Report.
Photography
Manage club photography and photographs (Getty Images and storage of photos on-line and off-line)
Writing for publications and Internet
General
Provide support to department staff as required
Work with other club departments on various projects
Provide ideas to other club departments
Constantly review the way we do business to ensure we are cutting edge
