ALASTAIR Clarkson and Kevin Sheedy will take AFL to the international stage when they present at an exclusive sports coaching conference at Chelsea Football Club in London in October.

The two premiership coaches have been invited to speak at the Leaders in Performance conference to be held in London 10 days after the AFL Grand Final.

The conference focuses on the issue of identifying, developing and managing elite sporting talent.

Sheedy will outline the evolution of the game from a coaching perspective, while Clarkson will focus on his role in taking Hawthorn from near the bottom of the ladder to one of the competition's most powerful club.

Conference organisers selected Sheedy and Clarkson specifically to present as representatives of AFL.

They are the first AFL coaches asked to present at the conference and will speak alongside the likes of Sam Allardyce, manager of West Ham United in the EPL and Sam Presti, general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA.

Attendance at the conference is by invitation only with Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson also going over this year.  There will be 400 elite coaches attending the two-day conference held at Chelsea Football Club.

Michael Poulton, manager for professional development at the AFL Coaches Association, said it was an opportunity for the game's coaches to network with some of the world's best practitioners.

"It gives the AFL a presence internationally in relation to the high-performance environment that we take for granted as one of the best in the world," Poulton said.

Sheedy will coach his 678th and final game on Sunday when the Giants take on Gold Coast.

Clarkson will lead the Hawks into its sixth finals series in the past seven years. If Hawthorn wins on Friday night against the Sydney Swans, it will finish on top of the ladder.
